Covid-19: Malaysia relaxes entry ban on expats, professional visit, pass-holders from 23 countries

10 September 2020

The government has announced that it will allow expatriates and professional visit pass-holders from 23 countries to enter, reversing a move on Monday (Sept 7) that was criticised by employers.

Ismail Sasbri said the entry ban was relaxed on expatriate and professional visit pass holders from the 23 countries provided they received approval from the Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM) and a support letter from the Malaysian Investment Development Authority.

“For permanent residents and foreign spouses of Malaysian citizens, they can apply with JIM to enter Malaysia, the same procedure also applies to student pass holders. However, JIM will not accept new student pass applications,” he said.
